How to Harness the Energy of a Full Moon

Things you should do during a Full Moon

My obsession with the moon goes back many years. It was something that started out as curiosity to something that became my monthly practice. Whether it’s a full moon, new moon, waning (you get the picture); I pay attention. New moons are a time for new beginnings and planting seeds. Full moons are a time for letting go and releasing things.

Here are a few ways I like to use the energy of the Full Moon:

1. Charge your crystals.

2. Full moon bath- I personally always take a salt bath. Whether it’s epsom salt or Himalayan salt, I love a good salt bath (as salt is a purifier). I like to think of the salt as removing toxins and any sort of energy we might’ve absorbed from someone else.

3. Meditation- this is a practice I use daily now, but there was a time I once felt I could not. I was one of those “I just can’t quiet my mind” people. I started meditating in the bathtub. I knew I wanted to stay in the bath and I had no excuse to do something else. There is no right or wrong way to meditate. Find whatever works for you. When I first started out on my journey the guided meditations on the “calm” app helped me so much. Now I turn to YouTube and prefer chants or singing bowls.

4. Light a candle- tell the universe what you want.

5. Make moon water- to do this fill a few mason jars with water and put them outside under the moon. Leave them for at least 4 hours. Before using your moon water, speak to it. I like to use affirmations of things I want to bring into my life. Also, I tell my water how powerful it is because that’s how I want to feel. You can drink it or use it for a bath, whichever you prefer.

6. Release of things- this could be people, memories, etc. Anything you feel it’s time to let go of. Take a piece of paper and write down everything you’re releasing. When you’re finished burn the paper. I recommend doing this in a safe environment. If doing inside get a bowl of water to put out the flame when you’re finished.

7. Journaling - write it a journal of your thoughts.

8. Tarot & or Oracle cards- if you’re like me and have many decks to play with. The full moon is the perfect time to pull some cards and do a reading for yourself.
